In creating this digital wellness space, we consulted school guidance counsellors, librarians and wellbeing practitioners who are actively serving youth. While we acknowledge there is no quick fix to the mental health challenges youth face, our Wellness Collection offers a wide range of resources that caters to and honours the diverse needs and backgrounds of students.
Students can access resources discreetly (without any stigma) or be directed by a counsellor/teacher to specific titles for support on personally challenging topics such as bullying, social anxiety, gender identity, depression, anger and grief (to name just a few). Carefully crafted fiction books about the issues they face can help students feel understood and more open to reaching out for help. Schools also have ability to age restrict/hide any titles to fit their school culture.
The Wellness Collection includes resources that introduce the practice of mindfulness, self-compassion and gratitude. These skills can influence positive affect, boost attention and concentration and improve relationships, resulting in higher resilience and more purposeful living. We envision the resources integrating throughout the school culture to equip students with the inner knowledge, skills and confidence to live their best lives.
The Wellness Collection supports school guidance counsellors’ and teachers’ work with students and their own well-being. We fully appreciate the importance of caring for and cultivating staff wellness to promote student well-being.
We encourage you to check out this digital wellness space and invite feedback and suggestions so we may together make a positive difference to student’s well-being, throughout the United Kingdom.
